5 Motor
Cluster Rocket

by Charles Barnett

7 1/2" dia. abt 10 1/2 ft tall

This rocket is designed for a central 54mm motor
 and 4 - 38mm motors

This flight was with a 54/1706, 2 38/720s, and 2 38/480s
which were lit simultaneously.

The 5 motor cluster to L power flew to several thousand feet and landed a few feet from the pad.

Another shot of the liftoff and landing showing Dave Shultz just before he realized his impending doom. The 5 motor cluster 7 1/2" dia rocket came down within a few feet of the pad from which it was launched.  Dave was nice enough to go to the pad to make sure that there was no
smoldering etc from the large cluster. No good deed goes un-punished  ;-)

Same flight perfectly straight up - obviously a favorite of mine - CB

You can see the exposure adjustments to the brightness of the sky as the lens pulls the image in from progressively further away.
